Septic Inspections

At Frank’s Septic Service, Inc., we’ve been serving Solano and Yolo counties since 1949. With decades of local experience, there’s a good chance we’ve previously serviced the system we’re inspecting—which provides valuable insight during real estate transactions or routine evaluations.

Our team is trained and certified through the National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT), and we’ve developed a clear, thorough inspection process that satisfies homeowners, buyers, and realtors alike.

What to Expect During Your Septic Inspection

Our inspection process begins with collecting helpful information about the property:

  • Is the home currently occupied?

  • How many people use the system?

  • If vacant, how long has it been unoccupied?

  • When was the system installed?

  • Have there been any repairs or alterations?

  • What is the size of the septic tank?

  • Is there more than one tank on the property?

  • When was it last pumped?

  • Are tank lids accessible, or is digging required?

  • Do you have a permit, diagram, or any system documentation?

If you do not have this information, we’ll coordinate with the local health department or governing agency to retrieve available records.

After completion and payment, a detailed inspection report will be emailed to you and/or your realtor for convenience and documentation.

Please note: Payment for the inspection and pumping is due at the time of service.

Our Inspection Process Includes:

  • Plumbing & Drainage Review
We check that all wastewater, including gray water, is correctly routed to the septic system and ensure no storm or gutter water enters the system.

  • Hydraulic Load Testing
We simulate daily water usage (250–600 gallons depending on home size) to observe how the system handles flow and assess drainfield performance.

  • Tank Inspection
We open and inspect the tank(s) to evaluate the baffles, sanitary tees, tank condition, and water level.

  • Separation Measurements
We gather data on distances between the system, the home, nearby wells, and other critical reference points.

  • Tank Pumping
Once the inspection is complete, we pump out the tank(s) to finalize the process.
